SPAN 221 - Spanish for Health Professions I
Prerequisite: SPAN 102 or Placement into SPAN 103. This course is geared toward students or individuals in the health professions who wish to increase their effectiveness in communicating with Spanish-speaking patients and their families in the clinical encounter. Course participants will study basic Spanish and terminology specific to the medical field, as well as cultural understandings of medicine and illness in the Spanish-speaking world. Working with interpreters and showing compassion through language will also be discussed.
