College-level reading and writing skills (a passing grade in WR 115 or placement into WR 121) are strongly recommended for success in this course.
The course will familiarize students with the literature written by American writers of Asian ancestry. The course may also engage students in materials written by American writers of Pacific Islander ancestry. Students will consider such literature in its aesthetic, historical, cultural, political, and social contexts. The class will also examine recurring themes regarding the development of attitudes, values, and identities as expressed within the body of literature.
