Prerequisite: CS 160 or CS161C+ (formerly CS 133G) or MTH 095 or higher (with the exception of MTH 098) or instructor consent. This course is an introduction to the principles of software design, development and testing. It includes basic syntax and semantics of Java, problem solving, algorithm and program design, data types, and program control structures. Development tools and object-oriented programming concepts are introduced. Note: CS 161J was formerly numbered CS 161. A student who has taken this class under the previous number may not take it again under this new number and receive duplicate credit.
