Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Analyze highly chromatic compositions of the late 19 century that contain enharmonic modulation through common-tone fully diminished 7th chords and various types of augmented 6th chords 2. Analyze non-tonal and atonal music in early 20th century music by using appropriate analytical and compositional methods such as modes, pitch-class collections, set theory and 12-tone system 3. Harmonize a chromatic descending bass line in tonal context 4.
