NRS 430 - Technology and Informatics
Associated Term: Winter 2026
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate advanced proficiency in utilizing patient care technologies, information systems, and communication devices to enhance safe nursing practice and improve patient outcomes
2. Analyze and interpret fundamental concepts of nursing informatics and its pivotal role in shaping modern healthcare environments
3. Synthesize and apply data analysis techniques to support evidence-based practice and facilitate informed, accurate clinical decision-making in complex care scenarios
4. Critically evaluate and optimize clinical decision support systems to ensure improvements in patient safety, care quality, and workflow efficiency
5. Formulate strategies to safeguard patient privacy, ensure data security, and navigate ethical challenges in the use of healthcare technologies
6. Investigate and innovate through exploration and adoption of emerging healthcare technologies that drive advancements in nursing practice and healthcare delivery
7. Advocate for and lead initiatives that incorporate cutting-edge patient care technologies, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality care and improved patient experiences
