Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Describe various geologic hazards, the causes and consequences of each, and the science underlying them 2. Apply quantitative methods to calculate geologic hazards, such as earthquake magnitude or recurrence interval of a hazard 3. Explain and evaluate efforts to mitigate geologic hazards using hazard maps and other available data 4. Evaluate issues and claims concerning geologic hazards 5.
