Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Define stress and identify stressors in children’s lives 2. Describe the personal, familial, social, political, and economic conditions or circumstances that place undue stress on growing children 3. Increase awareness of diversity in child rearing practices, in values, and attitudes toward children 4. Understand how to create growth-producing environments that meet basic human needs 5. Have a greater insight into yourself and come to appreciate how it was that you dealt with stress 6. See the value of stress in the lives of children and adults 7.
