Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. List in writing and define the eight dental specialties 2. Identify items needed for common specialty procedures 3. Apply the principles and concepts covering: pharmacology, pediatrics, oral surgery, pain control, prosthodontics, orthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, operative dentistry 4. Describe and demonstrate the roles of both assistant and doctor during composite restoration procedure 5. Chart common conditions in general dentistry and dental specialties 6. Punch, place, and remove rubber dam to stated criteria 7. Locate placement sites for topical anesthetic 8. Demonstrate Endodontic file measurement and the drying of pulp canals with paper points 9. Demonstrate thorough proper sterile techniques and knowledge of OSHA regulations 10. Demonstrate the following orthodontic functions: sizing orthodontic bands, re-cementing loose orthodontic bands, removing orthodontic bands, placement of ligatures, placing arch wires, placement of orthodontic separators and brackets, alginate impressions Required Materials: Technical Requirements: |
