ART 284 - Painting 2: Composition and Thematic Development |

Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Create projects that utilize critical and creative thinking skills in perceptual and conceptual aspects of painting 2. Apply a variety of painting techniques, including layering, opaque and transparent paint, a variety of brushwork, and personal style, using acrylic paint, and a variety of additive acrylic mediums 3. Demonstrate proficient use of 2D visual elements in painting, including value, shape, form, edge, composition, positive and negative space, and depth 4. Demonstrate proficient use of color theory, including hue, value, intensity and color systems 5. Explore and apply individual expressive, aesthetic and/or conceptual choices in painting projects 6. Analyze paintings verbally, or in writing, related to specific painting media, theory and vocabulary 7.
