Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Create painting projects that utilize critical and creative thinking skills in perceptual aspects of painting: 2. Explore and apply acrylic painting media, including acrylic paint, and a variety of additive acrylic mediums, including but not limited to, retarders, extenders, and gel medium: 3. Explore and apply a variety of painting techniques including layering, opaque and transparent paint, and a variety of brushwork: 4. Explore and apply perceptual painting skills; including the ability to accurately see and transcribe observed three-dimensional objects and space into two-dimensional images, working from still-life, figure or other representational subjects: 5. Identify and utilize 2D visual elements including value, shape, form, edge, composition, positive and negative space, and depth: 6. Identify and utilize elements of color theory, including hue, value, and color systems: 7. Analyze paintings, verbally, or in writing, related to specific painting media, theory and vocabulary: 8.
