Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Explain the theoretical foundations of literacy development 2. Differentiate historical perspectives and contemporary approaches to teach reading 3. Use evidence-based reading strategies such as the science of reading, phonemic awareness and phonics instruction to design inclusive literacy strategies 4. Apply research based assessments to support culturally and linguistically diverse students 5.
