Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Examine the various theories of leadership/management demonstrated within healthcare organizations 2. Explain the management functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling in relation to a health information management (HIM) manager’s job responsibilities 3. Identify the use of dashboards and scorecards as controlling tools for managers 4. Identify ethical concerns in regard to health information management leadership 5. Examine how cultural diversity and changing workforce demographics impact the roles and responsibilities in HIM 6. Explain how employee morale contributes to the sustainability of the HIM department 7. Assess the impact of team dynamics on the HIM profession 8.
