PTA 204LR - PT Interventions - Neuromuscular Conditions Lab-Rogue
Associated Term: Fall 2024
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Obtain a history and relevant information from the patient/client and from other sources as needed
2. Detect motor developmental milestones
3. Administer tests and measures appropriate to the patient’s age, neuromuscular health condition, and health status
4. Implement interventions specific to the plan of care to safely improve neuromuscular function
a. Balance
b. Locomotion
c. Aerobic conditioning
d. Manual techniques
e. Therapeutic positioning and support/assistive devices
5. Provide patient-specific manual, audible, and/or visual cues to optimize activity performance
6. Analyze neuromuscular function (i.e. posture, sensation, motor planning, arousal and attention, movement patterns) and activity performance to inform intervention planning, implementation, and/or outcomes
7. Document patient outcomes, including the use of appropriate standardized tests and measures that address body structure and function impairments, activity, and participation
8. Reflect on personal values, interprofessional roles and responsibilities, and disability frameworks during clinical decision-making
9. Educate patients and caregivers in neuromuscular interventions that may be performed safely in a variety of environments
