HIM 200 - Healthcare Statistics
Associated Term: Fall 2024
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Use descriptive statistics (e.g., central tendency, range) to identify how statistics are used in health care
2. Describe health care data through graphical representations (pivot tables)
3. Calculate common healthcare facility statistics
4. Interpret statistical data
5. Calculate data for department operations (e.g., staffing levels, productivity, budget variances, and case mix)
6. Differentiate among the various types of research methods
7. Explain the purpose and control of an institutional review board (IRB) and various types of research methods
