Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Apply analytical skills to social phenomena in order to understand human behavior, through the use of spatial models, maps, and diagrams to demonstrate concepts of culture regions, cultural diffusion, globalization, cultural landscapes, and the influences of nature 2. Identify locations of nations and their cultural integration with regard to language, religion, ethnic make-up, cultural landscapes, and histories which have created a diverse world 3. Illustrate the importance of “place” to the cultural identity of individuals and institutions 4. Assess different theories and concepts to demonstrate the distinctions between empirical and theoretical methods of inquiry 5. Utilize college-level information literacy skills in written and oral communication 6. Apply knowledge and skills to contemporary social problems such as changes in borders, immigration concerns, environmental impacts, or how we can better understand communities from outside our own Required Materials: Technical Requirements: |
