Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Basic tools of the acting craft: a. Physical realization/warm-up for performance, b. Character communication, c. Principles of stage movement and voice projection, d. Ensemble work and performance concepts. 2. Actor’s analytical approach: a. Script analysis, b. Character analysis, c. Social/cultural context, d. Discovering subtext. 3. Communicating/characterization: a. Internalizing motivation, seeking objectives, b. Physicalizing character, c. Sense of discovery in character work, d. Discovering subtext. 4. Interpreting and presenting: a. Interpretation that is personal but also expresses playwright’s intent, b. Transforming stage fright, c. Working in front of an audience, d. Dealing with criticism. 5. Concepts of serious and comedic acting. 6. Assemble and present an effective audition.
