HP 105 - Electronic Health Records for the Provider Office |

Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course the student will: 1- Demonstrate proficiency creating patient medical records with accurate demographic and financial information. Demonstrate the process that will avoid duplication of medical records. 2- Demonstrate proficiency in posting charges, entering medical codes; prepare billing statements, post payments from payers and insurers, post overpayments, and process refunds. 3- Demonstrate proficiency in clinical documentation in the patient EHR 4- Demonstrate accurate administrative documentation in the patient record. 5- Demonstrate understanding accessing patient information in the EHR based on a need to know, within scope of practice for various office staff and care providers. 6- Demonstrate understanding of issues of confidentiality in relation to the medical record. 7- Demonstrate proficiency of evaluating a medical record for completeness in regards to regulatory requirement and medical necessity. 8- Demonstrate proficiency in completing insurance claim forms 9- Demonstrate proficiency in obtaining preauthorization, including documentation. 10- Demonstrate proficiency of verifying eligibility for managed care services and complete appropriate documentation in EHR. 11- Define and explain the purpose of keeping a personal health record (PHR), identify the steps of creating a PHR, and identify steps in maintaining a PHR. 12- Demonstrate proficiency in accessing and printing appropriate patient education documents Required Materials: Technical Requirements: |
