Learning Objectives: Students who successfully complete this course will be able to: 1. Understand the phonetic system of Chinuk Wawa 2. Understand elements of the grammar of the language 3. Speak using memorized words and phrases, everyday expressions, identify familiar objects, hold basic conversations using simple sentences and give short presentations in the topic areas 4. Recognize and understand words, phrases, sentences, questions, and short conversations about the topics 5. Write words, lists, phrases, sentences and paragraphs about the topics 6. Understand the interrelatedness of language and culture 7. Understand the traditionally oral nature of American Indian Languages 8.
