Learning Objectives: • Understand the purpose of code sets and their relationship to processing medical insurance claims and obtaining reimbursement. • Understand coding principles and guidelines. • Interpret basic coding rules and apply them when choosing a code for diagnosis and treatment. • Accurately assign diagnosis and CPT codes to the highest level of specificity with a 70% accuracy, or higher. • Accurately assign evaluation and management, outpatient surgical procedure, laboratory, radiology and medicine coding with a 70% accuracy, or higher.
