HS 228 - HIV/AIDS and Other Infectious Diseases: Risk Assessment and Intervention
Associated Term: Fall 2021
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Define HIV/AID, Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis, and Herpes at risk behavior. 2. Thoroughly understand routes of HIV/AID, Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis and Herpes transmission. 3. Understand the various epidemiological factors that promote HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis and Herpes transmission to different populations. 4. Recognize the deleterious effects of addressing HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis and Herpes only in at risk populations. 5. Understand the HIV, Hepatitis C and Tuberculosis testing procedure and its limitations. 6. Comprehend the effects of the HIV/AIDS Hepatitis C and Tuberculosis on a global scale. 7. Examine the government’s treatment of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and Tuberculosis in the United States. 8. Understand chemical use and dependency and how it relates to high risk behavior and HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C Tuberculosis and Herpes infection. 9. Examine basic HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis, and Herpes education methods. 10. Understand the experiences of both HIV/AIDS seropositive individuals and persons who have engaged in high-risk behavior. 11. Discern the effectiveness of counseling the directives on at risk individual cases. 12. Understand the ethical and legal issues involved in HIV/AIDS screening, testing and counseling.
