Learning Objectives: Students who successfully complete this course will be able to: 1. Be able to describe basic concepts and underlying principles of green building design, operation, and certification systems such as LEED 2. Understand how regional differences and local microclimates affect siting and design of buildings 3. Understand fundamental principles of conventional and renewable energy generation 4. Understand fundamental principles of heat transfer and thermal comfort 5. Be able to describe principles and basic operation of passive heating, passive cooling, and daylighting systems 6. Be able to describe principles and basic operation of water supply, stormwater, and wastewater systems 7.
