APR 101 - Trade Skills Fundamentals |

Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Understand and describe the application and selection procedures for an apprenticeship trade, employer expectations, and workplace responsibilities. 2. Employ appropriate and safe workplace behavior, common safety practices, and use of personal protective equipment. 3. Effectively use common trade calculations in standard and metric lengths, areas, weights, volumes, etc. 4. Recognize, identify and safely use and care for various hand and power tools, employ common safety practices, and use different types of protective gear. 5. Understand basic blueprint terms, components, symbols, drawing classifications and dimensions, and interpret drawings. 6. Identify and describe basic rigging slings, hitches, hardware, signals, and safety. 7. Choose appropriate materials-handling equipment for the task and recognize hazards. 8. Demonstrate ability to interpret information both verbally and in writing and communicate effectively in on-the-job situations using both written and verbal skills. 9.
