DA 108 - Dental Health Education 2
Associated Term: Winter 2021
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Identify the six food groups and note the primary nutritional contributions of each group. 2. Describe the role of carbohydrates, fats and protein in the diet. 3. Identify essential vitamins and minerals, stating their primary function and listing good food source of each. 4. Identify and define good snack foods and how we can change snack habits. 5. Identify areas of change for personal growth in "wellness" lifestyle. 6. Discuss different diets required by patients that have special dental needs. 7. Complete a 24-hour diet recall on someone other than yourself. Complete a five-day diary on yourself and complete a self-evaluation using the nutritional counseling evaluation sheets.
