Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course the student will: 1- Select an appropriate analysis tool given a water conservation scenario provided; economic perspective, costs, benefits, and time frame for analysis. 2- Generate a basic financial analysis of the following types; simple payback, discounted payback, net present worth, benefit-cost including life-cycle costi. 3- Contrast orthodox economic analysis with alternative methods in water projects. 4- Critique institutional and policy effects on effective water pricing using standard economic terminology. 5- Identify financial analysis issues that require additional assistance including; taxation, capital depreciation, lease – purchase decisions, where they occur in conservation scenarios. 6- Identify and quantify basic costs and benefits for an economic analysis of a water conservation measure. 7- Present the results of an economic analysis in a technical report and an oral presentation.
