AV 283 - Powerplant Return to Service
Associated Term: Spring 2020
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course ((Level 3 as applicable/FAR Part 147), the successful student will be able to: 1- Perform powerplant conformity and airworthiness inspections 2- Item #1 inspections may include inspect, adjust, repair, replace, assemble, and/or rig: 3- Reciprocating engines and engine installations 4- Electrical and mechanical engine temperature, pressure, and RPM indicating systems. 5- Engine fire detection and extinguishing systems. 6- Lubrication systems. 7- Reciprocating and turbine engine ignition systems. 8- Reciprocating and turbine engine fuel metering systems. 9- Engine fuel systems. 10- Carburetor air intake and induction manifolds. 11- Engine cooling systems. 12- Engine exhaust systems. 13- Fixed-pitch, constant-speed, and feathering propellers, and propeller governing systems. 14-.Install, check, and service engine, electrical wiring, controls, switches, indicators, and protective devices. 15 -install, troubleshoot, and remove propellers 16- Repair aluminum alloy propeller blades. 17- Write descriptions of work performed including aircraft discrepancies and corrective actions using typical aircraft maintenance records. 18- Demonstrate ability to read, comprehend, and apply information contained in FAA and manufacturer's aircraft maintenance specifications, data sheets, manuals, and publications, and related 19- Complete required maintenance forms, records, and inspection reports. 20- Read technical data
