Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Demonstrate an ability to recognize styles, movements, specific designers and dates, 2. Identify and demonstrate an understanding of the designer’s role in art throughout the history of design production. 3. Effectively analyze and communicate an understanding of the impact of design concepts within the broader cultural context of social, religious, philosophical, and political beliefs. 4. Interpret and apply an understanding of the use and meaning of symbols and iconography throughout history to current issues, culture and design. 5. Compose written or visual material to effectively communicate knowledge and demonstrate comprehension of design periods, styles, terminology, iconography, theory and artworks.
