HRTM 110 - Hospitality Sales and Marketing
Associated Term: Fall 2018
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Identify distinctive aspects of marketing within service industries in relation to the intangibility of services, service encounters, service chains, and service quality, i.e. Customer Service. 2. Use the strategic planning process to develop and implement strategic marketing plans. 3. Identify and make effective use of several variables that affect the hospitality purchasing decisions of the guests. 4. Identify significant sources of demographic, income/wealth, and lifestyle information and use these sources to anticipate future developments and to develop products and services that will meet the emerging needs of current and future guests. 5. Explain several methods of positioning, segmenting, and targeting markets, and use market segmentation criteria effectively. 6. Understand consumer behavior theory and apply it to real world situations. 7. Students will be able to develop a marketing plan based on an actual establishment. 8. Understand the impact of “greenwashing” products and services.
