Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Have a basic working knowledge of how the criminal justice system operates. 2. Demonstrate an understanding of basic intervention strategies for working with the addicted offender. 3. Identify personal values, attitudes and behaviors and how they may impact professional work with the criminal addict. 4. Describe how individual characteristics as well as the interconnected familial, community, political, socio-economic, gender and cultural factors may contribute to criminality.
