ART 255 - Alchemy of Ceramics: Materiality, Chemistry, and Kiln Firing
Associated Term: Spring 2018
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will: 1. have acquired an understanding of ceramic materials, applications and kiln firing processes. 2. have the ability to independently test or mix clays and glazes to inform outcomes of studio work. 3. use critical thinking to develop thoughtful approaches and creative problem solving in the use of ceramic material in personal art studio practice. 4. exercise safe and healthy studio practices in the use of ceramic materials, chemicals and firing of kilns. 5. exercised written & verbal skills documentation - written records of lab observations 6. have a deeper knowledge base of ceramic theory, history and contemporary practice to inform individual studio work.
