Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will: 1- Articulate similarities and differences between research practices from different disciplines. 2- Evaluate types of evidence appropriate for different research questions. 3- Discuss contemporary research practices within the history of Western research in order to engage diverse values with civic and ethical awareness. 4- Articulate the relationship between research questions, data sources, and research methods. 5- Apply the research process for their individual line of inquiry. 6- Effectively identify information needs and methods of gathering the information that meets those needs (including discipline-specific resources). 7- Use library resources, online databases, and the Internet to locate information. 8- Evaluate information for relevance, accuracy, and reliability. 9- Use direct contact as a data source and communicate effectively to elicit data from the source for their research project. 10- Effectively communicate research findings to an appropriate audience. 11- Think critically about research by identifying and testing assumptions about the research process. 12- Use discipline-specific documentation and citation formats. 13- Assess his or her growth in critical thinking, knowledge, research skills, and group process skills. 14- Create an ePortfolio to demonstrate critical thinking, effective communication, and applied learning.
