Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Have a basic knowledge and understanding of Japanese art from pre-historic times through the mid-19th Century and particularly the areas of painting, wood-block prints, sculpture, architecture, ceramics and gardens. A secondary objective is to introduce the student to Japanese aesthetic taste and to understand its complex relationship and permeation of Japanese society and history.
