Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to: 1. Sing a major scale ascending and descending using solfeggio and accompanying hand signs, maintaining key and tempo 2. Sing arpeggiated I, IV, and V chords within one octave using solgeggio and accompanying hand signs 3. Conduct and count 2,3, and 4 beat groupings in simple meters 4. Identify intervals (unison-octave), triads (major, minor, augmented, and diminished), and tonal relationships (major mode; do-ti) at a minimum of 50% accuracy. 5. Sound out and sing short diatonic melodies in C, G, and F major which employ simple meters of two, three, and four beat groupings, maintaining key center and tempo, with a minimum of 75% accuracy in pitch and rhythm. 6. Count and perform four measure rhythmic patterns in simple meters, at a moderate tempo, that include note values from a sixteenth note to a sixteenth note in duration at a minimum of 75% accuracy. 7. Notate dictated simple rhythmic patterns with a quarter note beat value up to four beats in length employing note values from a sixteenth note to a whole note in duration at a minimum of 75% accuracy. 8. Notate dictated diatonic major melodies in simple meters of four bars, employing values from a sixteenth note to a whole note in duration with no rests or ties, upon five hearings with 50% accuracy. 9. Tap an exercise from Level 20 of the Tap Master series at a minimum of 95% accuracy. Required Materials: Technical Requirements: |
