Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Employ aspects of mathematical and logical thinking in various fields. 2. Develop an appreciation of the relationship mathematics has to other major branches of knowledge: e.g. sociology. 3. Become familiar with mathematical models of various types: e.g. exponential and logarithmetic functions, 4. Become familiar with some current open topics in mathematics; e.g. finance.
