CG 145 - Coping Skills for Stress and Depression
Associated Term: Spring 2016
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Minimize stress reaction and reduction, identifying situations that produce stress and to rationally analyze his/her stress responses. 2. Identify behaviors associated with depression, expressing themselves in constructive ways, minimizing depression. 3. Identify and address thoughts, feelings and behaviors associated with anger. 4. Demonstrate skills of relaxation, assertion and constructive actions to take in case of depression, processing relaxation techniques. 5. Assess time and energy use, as compared to ideal use of time and energy, identifying and minimizing unproductive use of time. 6. Design ways to make the ideal possible and incorporate into a work schedule. 7. Expand repertoire of leisure time and possibilities, understanding the importance of leisure as related to successful functioning on the job. 8. Develop communication skills that support healthy boundaries and assertiveness. 9. Identify psychosocial dimensions of health; including social issues of bias and interdependence. 10. Identify physical, mental, emotional and spiritual facets of personal health and resiliency. 11. Build skills and insights needed to support ability to succeed, lead a healthy, responsible lifestyle.
