Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1- Interacts with health professions students in simulated patient care and/or non-patient care activities 2- Reflect on interprofessional roles and collaboration during a simulation and/or non-patient care activity 3- Instruct nursing students on the role of the PTA during a case simulation activity 4- Instruct nursing in orthotic wearing schedule 5- Assess areas for improvement in professional presence and clinical technique during a case simulation 6- Interacts with health professions students in simulated patient care and/or non-patient care activities 7- Reflect on interprofessional roles and collaboration during a simulation and/or non-patient care activity 8- Instruct nursing students on the role of the PTA during a case simulation activity 9- Instruct nursing in orthotic wearing schedule 10-Confirm understanding of blood borne pathogen transmission and OSHA infection control procedures 11-Demonstrate preparedness for lab instruction through timely completion of pre-lab assessments 12- Wash hands using principles of asepsis 13- Donn and doff personal protective equipment to prevent the spread of infection 14- Perform chest wall percussion techniques 15- Instruct a patient in breathing and energy conservation techniques during a case simulation activity 16- Perform and assist in a one and two-person slideboard transfer technique for a case simulation 17-Selects and applies an AFO or orthotic specific to a medical condition 18-Demonstrates effective application of clinical biofeedback during practice activities 19-Screen, instruct, and monitor subject response to progressive aerobic exercise 20-Predicts exercise thresholds from standardized formulas for exercise monitoring 21-Accurately calculates physiological response to exercise test 22-Graphs and interprets exercise test results 23-Observes and monitors thoracoabdominal movements and breathing patterns with activity 24-Measures height, weight, and chest circumference during practice activities 25-Recognizes changes in the direction and magnitude of patient's state of arousal, mentation and cognition 26-Administers standardized assessment to self and others during fitness and aerobic capacity testing 27-Recognizes activities that aggravate or relieve pain, dyspnea, or other symptoms 28-Inspects skin for adverse effects following AFO/LE orthotic use 29-Recognize signs and symptoms of orthotic device misfit 30-Accurately assess sensation in spinal dermatomes 31-Assess deep tendon reflexes for the upper and lower extremity 32-Identifies major myotomes and dermatomes for the upper and lower extremity 33-Measure and assess access of an interior space using principles of Universal Design 34-Describes the role of standardized functional assessments in treatment and discharge planning Required Materials: Technical Requirements: |
