Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Apply vector algebra to compute the resultants of coplanar force systems. 2. Draw correct Free Body Diagrams and write the corresponding equations of equilibrium. 3. Solve equilibrium equations for unknown force components. 4. Determine forces acting in simple trusses, frames, and machines. 5. Locate centroids of areas. 6. Construct axial force, shear, and bending moment diagrams for statically determinant beams under various loading conditions. 7. Solve problems involving coulomb friction.
