Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Interpret both short authentic and longer texts including the completion of a novel. 2. Identify the main idea and supporting details from ESL texts. 3. Choose appropriate strategies for different reading purposes. 4. Guess the meaning of unfamiliar words using context clues. 5. Draw meaning from passages by using syntactic clues and transition words. 6. Make inferences from readings. 7.
