ECE 140 - Practicum 1-LCC Lab School
Associated Term: Fall 2014
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Through observation, dialogue, reflection and theory based knowledge, describe and understand developmentally appropriate curriculum and demonstrate the ability to create and facilitate learning environments for young children. 2. Describe and understand an awareness of daily routines in a developmentally appropriate child care center. 3. Demonstrate the ability to help facilitate smooth transition periods within a daily routine. 4. Describe and understand effective guidance methods and demonstrate the ability to use guidance with one or more children as required. 5. Demonstrate the ability to effectively facilitate children’s learning in group situations such as circle time, walks, field trips, and in transitions from one activity to the next. 6. Demonstrate the ability to use effective supervision skills that allow children to be safe and have freedom to explore and learn. 7. Demonstrate the ability to utilize observation skills learned in class to create useful and objective evaluations of the progress of various children.
