Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Understand the phonetic system of a chosen American Indian language 2. Understand the interrelatedness of language and culture 3. Understand the basic grammatical structure of the language 4. Develop a broad vocabulary in the language. 5. Develop basic conversational skills in the language. 6. Understand the traditionally oral nature of American Indian Languages. Understand and meet Tribal Benchmarks for mastery of the language.
