BT 122 - MS POWERPOINT for Business
Associated Term: Summer 2014
Learning Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
1. Create presentations from a template, or from existing slides. Students learn how to delete slides and assign slide layout, navigate among different views, copy slides from one presentation into another, insert headers and footers into presentations, create a summary slide, format presentations for the web and design a template.
2. Modify presentations including changing tab formatting, wrapping text in AutoShapes, changing the order of slides, finding and replacing text, changing the layout for one or more slides, changing the slide layout of slide master and title master, and modifying slide sequence in the outline pane.
3. Demonstrate the ability to work with text by using spell check, changing and replacing text fonts, importing text from Word, changing text alignment, working with text boxes, using wrap text option in AutoShapes, using the Format Painter feature, and promoting and demoting text in slides and outlines.
4. Work with visual elements including adding a picture from ClipArt Gallery, adding and grouping shapes using Word Art or the Drawing Toolbar, using text boxes; sizing, rotating and filling objects, creating and modifying PowerPoint tables, and adding textured backgrounds to these objects.
5. Customize a presentation by adding AutoNumber bullets, speaker notes, and graphical bullets. In addition, students will customize color schemes, apply slide transitions and animation effects, create a custom background, add animated clip art, link slides within the presentation, resize and scale objects, add action buttons, hide slides, and set automatic slide timings.
6. Preview presentations in black and white, print slides, create audience handouts and speaker notes, save presentations in HTML, and view them in a browser.
7. Deliver presentations by using screen navigation tools and pen marker, embedding fonts, saving presentations for use on another computer.
8. Use data from other sources such as exporting an outline to Word, adding a table from Word, inserting an Excel chart, and adding sound or video clips.
9. Create and modify charts (pie, bar, etc.), graphs and organizational charts.
10. Create hyperlinks to other slides, presentations, applications, or the Internet.
11. Apply workgroup collaboration such as review cycles to review comments, schedule and deliver presentation broadcasts, and publish presentations to the Web.
12. Apply design principles in preparing slide presentations.
13. Manage electronic documents by creating folders and applying the copy, move (cut), rename, and delete functions.
14. Design, create, and present an original slide show using PowerPoint software and an LCD projection system as demonstrated in the final project.
