WR 080 - English Grammar and Sentence Writing
Associated Term: Spring 2014
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Identify standard parts of speech in sentences. 2. Write sentences using parts of speech appropriately. 3. Identify and correct standard subject/verb agreement in sentences. 4. Write sentences using subject/verb agreement appropriately. 5. Identify and correct standard pronoun/antecedent agreement in sentences. 6. Write sentences using pronoun/antecedent agreement appropriately. 7. Identify and write sentences using basic sentence (clause) patterns. 8. Identify, write, and correct simple, compound, and complex sentences using appropriate conjunctions and punctuation. 9. Identify and correct errors in run-ons, comma splices, and sentence fragments. 10. Identify and correct standard capitalization errors. 11. Write sentences using standard capitalization. 12. Integrate the above skills when writing papers on assigned topics.
