SP 105 - Listening and Critical Thinking
Associated Term: Spring 2014
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Appreciate listening as a vital element in the communication process. 2. Understand the listening process. 3. Evaluate your own listening behaviors. 4. Demonstrate improved listening proficiency in a variety of communication contexts. 5. Know strategies useful for assisting others' listening proficiency. 6. Demonstrate ability to recall messages and follow oral directions. 7. Demonstrate ability to listen through accents, emotional content, and noise. 8. Demonstrate ability to organize, summarize, and paraphrase messages. 9. Demonstrate critical thinking skills for evaluating the importance and logic of messages. 10. Engage in ethical communication processes that accomplish goals. 11. Respond to the needs of diverse audiences and contexts 12. Build and manage relationships.
