RT 266 - Emergency and Critical Care - Part 1
Associated Term: Spring 2014
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Understand and interpret samples of normal and abnormal ECG rhythm, rate and conduction disturbances. 2. Perform lead placement for 12 lead and cardiac monitor electrocardiography 3. Recommend ventilation, defibrillation, medication and airway management techniques for correction of life threatening scenarios using ACLS, PALS and NRP protocols. 4. Understand normal and abnormal hemodynamic values typical of common critical cardiorespiratory disorders. 5. Understand and make recommendations for therapy using normal and abnormal capnographic patterns associated with common critical cardiorespiratory disorders. 6. Understand and describe the mechanisms of action, indications and contraindications and appropriate dosages of drugs used in the management of life threatening cardiorespiratory scenarios. 7. Describe and recommend emergency airway management techniques using artificial airway devices.
