Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Know the elements that make up the nature of jazz and how and what to listen for in jazz. 2. Have a basic knowledge of the historic eras of jazz and some of the most important figures in jazz. 3. Have a basic understanding of jazz theory, including reading chord symbols and the cyclic nature of jazz harmony. 4. Have a basic understanding of how to spell jazz chords and how to play basic jazz piano chords. 5. Have studied in depth an important figure in jazz era. 6. Have studied in depth a major historic style of jazz. 7. Have attended four live jazz concerts. Required Materials: Technical Requirements: |
