PTA 132 - Applied Kinesiology 1
Associated Term: Winter 2014
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Define the terminology used for motions and human movements. 2. Identify and describe the bones and structures that make up the skeletal system. 3. Recognize types of joints including the classifications of joints. Use and define pathological terms and planes of motions in function. 4. Use appropriate terminology when discussing arthrokinematics of motion. 5. Identify and discuss characteristics of the muscular system. 6. Describe principles of biomechanics including laws of motion. 7. Identify bones, landmarks, ligaments, joints, muscles, and nerves for the foot and ankle. 8. Identify bones, landmarks, ligaments, joints, muscles, and nerves for the knee. 9. Identify bones, landmarks, ligaments, joints, muscles, and nerves for the hip. 10. Identify bones, landmarks, ligaments, joints, muscles, and nerves for the pelvis. 11. Describe normal and abnormal gait mechanics and the various phases within the gait cycle. 12. Research and support with evidence clinical considerations, pathology, and interventions for an assigned muscular condition
