AM 245 - Introduction To Hybrid Electric Vehicles
Associated Term: Summer 2013
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the successful student will be able to: 1. Be able to identify the main types of hybrid vehicle technologies. 2. Define series, parallels, and series-parallel power flow designs. 3. Identify the common hybrid power-train subsystems. 4. Be able to identify a high voltage circuit, use the proper personal protection equipment PPE’s, and understand the characteristics of high voltage systems thus reducing accidental death or injury. 5. Be able to use and scan tool and isolation fault tester. 6. Understand the high voltage safety systems. 7. Understand Hybrid vehicle propulsion systems. Including electric machines, high voltage battery packs, power inverter and converters, and differences between the internal combustion engines used in hybrids as compared to standard gasoline engines. 8. Demonstrate proper servicing techniques needed to service Cooling System Braking System, and Air Conditioning System.
