Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Identify main ideas and supporting details in authentic expository and literary texts. 2. Recognize common structures and organizational patterns in English texts. 3. Apply active reading strategies such as note taking, outlining, and mapping to increase comprehension. 4. Make inferences and draw conclusions based on readings. 5. Make thematic connections between a variety of readings. 6. Apply basic literary terminology to the analysis of texts. 7.
