Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Identify students’ and tutors’ rights and responsibilities. 2. Identify when and how to refer students to other locations on campus. 3. Gain sensitivity into the way students feel about asking for help. 4. Structure an effective tutor session using techniques for teaching adults. 5. Identify your own personal learning style preference. 6. Through observation, identify a student’s learning style and tactics to teach to that individual’s style. 7. Identify and improve one study skill you feel weak in. 8. Evaluate improved personal listening and communication skills. 9. Define differences in student goals/values/cultural behaviors and respond to differences with respect. 10. Identify questioning criteria and improve personal questioning skills. 11. List problem solving skills. 12. Collectively, solve current problems identified by tutors.
