ARH 299A - Modern and Contemporary Latin American Art
This course will survey the history of art in the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking Americas, from the first attempts to construct a postcolonial identity in the 1800s, to the political complexities that defined the region in the 1900s and the global stage of the 2000s. The class will provide an in-depth discussion of pivotal Latin American artists and their contributions in order to establish a wider and more complex vision of modern art.
