G 203 - Evolution of the Earth |
This course surveys the history of the Earth throughout
geologic time. Sedimentation, sedimentary environments,
fossils and fossilization are discussed along with the
geologic history of North America. The evolution of animals
and plants is traced from their beginnings to modern times.
Lab work emphasizes recognizing fossils, interpreting age
relationships and stratigraphy, and using geologic maps and
cross-sections as tools to interpret Earth history. Case
studies of regional geology are used to illustrate
principles of historical geology. See additional information
about this geology sequence under the course description
for G 201.
